Russian Foreign Ministry says no requests for Blinken-Lavrov conversation received from U.S

MOSCOW. July 28 (Interfax) - Russia has not received any requests from Washington regarding a possible conversation between U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"Apart from media reports, there have been no requests on this score," the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday evening.

"We are guided by routine diplomatic practice rather than megaphone practice," it said.

Earlier on Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of States Antony Blinken said at a briefing at the Department of State that he intended to have a conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in the coming days.

"In coming days I expect to speak with Russian Foreign Minister [Sergei] Lavrov," Blinken said.

It will be his first conversation with Lavrov since Russia started its special operation in Ukraine, Blinken said.
