Ukraine exports 1.23 mln tonnes of grain crops since start of 2022-2023 marketing year - ministry

MOSCOW. July 27 (Interfax) - Ukraine has exported 1.23 million tonnes of grain crops, including 849,000 tonnes of corn (69% of all grain exports), 264,000 tonnes of wheat (21.5%), and 106,000 tonnes of barley (8.6%), from July 1 to 27, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry's report on its website on Wednesday.

The rate of grain exports since the start of the current marketing year (July 2022 - June 2023) was nearly half of that in the same period last year (Ukraine exported 2.31 million tonnes of grain crops from July 1 to 27, 2021). The ministry attributed the drop to the blockade of Ukrainian seaports, a key export infrastructure element.

Between July 15 and 27, Ukraine exported 627,000 tonnes of grain crops (52,250 tonnes daily), compared to 280,000 tonnes (40,000 tonnes daily) between July 8 and 15. Hence, the average daily rate of grain exports grew roughly by 30% on July 15-27 compared to July 8-15.

Since the start of the 2022-2023 marketing year, Ukraine has exported 264,000 tonnes of wheat (-59.02% year-on-year), 849,000 tonnes of corn (-9.5%), 106,000 tonnes of barley (-85.07%), and 3,300 tonnes of flour (-68.75%).

As reported earlier, Ukraine exported 48.51 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops in the 2021-2022 marketing year, which is 8.4% more than in the previous marketing year. In particular, it exported 18.74 million tonnes of wheat (+12.6% year-on-year), 23.54 million tonnes of corn (+1.9%), 5.75 million tonnes of barley (+35.9%), and 70,900 tonnes of flour (-44.1%).

In the 2020-2021 marketing year, Ukraine exported 44.72 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops, including 16.64 million tonnes of wheat, 23.08 million tonnes of corn, 4.23 million tonnes of barley, 126,900 tonnes of flour, and 18,400 tonnes of rye.
