Sberbank files claim totaling 23.4 bln rubles against former Ukrainian subsidiary
MOSCOW. July 26 (Interfax) - Sberbank has filed a lawsuit in the Arbitration Court of Moscow seeking to recover 23.4 billion rubles from its former Ukrainian subsidiary, International Reserve Bank (MR Bank), according to court filings.
"The lawsuit was filed in the Russian court in accordance with the terms of the agreement," Sberbank's press service told Interfax.
The substance of the claim has not yet been disclosed.
On February 25, the National Bank of Ukraine revoked International Reserve Bank's banking license and liquidated it.
In early April, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved a decree from President Vladimir Zelensky, in accordance with which 100% shares of Ukraine's International Reserve Bank, owned by Sberbank of Russia, were forcibly seized. Sberbank responded by saying that it plans to challenge the decision of the Ukrainian authorities in arbitration.
