Number of domestic AI solutions implemented in Russia to double by 2024 - Deputy PM Chernyshenko

MOSCOW. July 25 (Interfax) - The number of domestic artificial intelligence (AI) solutions implemented in the Russian real sector will double by 2024, with the effect of largescale implementation of AI products accounting for 1% of GDP annually, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko's office told Interfax.

"We expect that by 2024, the number of domestic AI solutions implemented in the real sector will double, and the annual growth of specialists in the field of artificial intelligence will reach about 10,000. Such results will accelerate the development of other priority technological areas that will significantly strengthen the country's position in the international arena," Chernyshenko is quoted by his office as saying.

The country has already launched an infrastructure that makes it possible to actively develop the personnel, technological and scientific environment to resolve AI tasks, the deputy prime minister said. Additionally, a system of national regulation is being set up to allow a largescale and safe use of AI, which will enable Russia to become the world's best jurisdiction for the development of these technologies.

Earlier on Monday, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin vested the deputy prime ministers with additional powers in the field of critical technologies and high-tech areas. Chernyshenko was entrusted to supervise developments in artificial intelligence, quantum computing and Internet communications solutions, as well as the production and processing of nanomaterials.
