Ukraine reaps 6.5 mln tonnes of early grain crops - Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry

MOSCOW. July 22 (Interfax) - Ukrainian agrarians have harvested 6.5 million tonnes of early grain and leguminous crops by July 22 (+2.9 million tonnes over the week from July 15 to 22) from 2.1 million hectares (+0.9 million hectares), Ukrainian media have reported with reference to the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry on Friday.

They have threshed 3.8 million tonnes of winter wheat (+2.1 million tonnes over said week) from 2.1 million hectares (+1.51 million hectares), 2.5 million tonnes of winter barley (+0.7 million tonnes) from 0.81 million hectares (+0.22 million hectares), and 126,800 tonnes of peas (+49,500 tonnes) from 75,000 hectares (+32,900 hectares).

"The harvesting campaign in Ukraine is continuing and gaining momentum. The Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions have harvested over one million tonnes of new grain each. Over 59% of peas and one-third of rapeseed planted have been threshed," it said.

In addition, harvesting winter rapeseed all over the country, agrarians have reaped 896,500 tonnes (+637,200 tonnes over the past week alone) from 400,000 hectares (+266,200 hectares).

As reported earlier, Ukraine harvested a record large amount of 106 million tonnes of grain, leguminous, and oil-yielding crops in 2021, including 84 million tonnes of grain and legumes and 22.6 million tonnes of oil-yielding crops.

In all, Ukraine last year harvested 32.4 million tonnes of wheat, 40 million tonnes of corn, 10 million tonnes of barley, 581,500 tonnes of peas, 191,000 tonnes of panicum, 110,000 tonnes of buckwheat, 16.3 million tonnes of sunflower, 3.4 million tonnes of soybeans, and 2.9 million tonnes of rapeseed.
