'Yellow' terror threat alert extended in Transdniestria

TIRASPOL. July 22 (Interfax) - Leader of the unrecognized Transdniestrian Moldovan Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky signed a decree on Friday to extend the region's "yellow" terrorism threat alert for another 15 days.

"The 'yellow' terrorism threat alert in Transdniestria has been extended for another 15 days through August 6, 2022," Krasnoselsky's press service said.

This decision stems from "the continuing threat of a terrorist act and the need to continue taking measures to prevent it."

From April 26 to May 25 Transdniestria was under a "red" terror alert. This was imposed after a grenade attack on April 25-26 on the building of Transdniestria's State Security Ministry and explosions at a radio center in the village of Mayak in Grigoriopol district. No one was hurt.

Transdniestria was under a "yellow" terrorism threat alert from May 25 to June 8, which has been extended every 15 days.

At the same time, almost all of the red-level restrictions have remained in place, including thorough monitoring and guarding of all critical infrastructure in the region continues, checkpoints on the roads into and out of the region are still standing and carry out thorough vehicle checks, forces are on high alert, and drone flights without the State Security Ministry's permission are banned.
