Russia records 6,659 new Covid-19 cases, 41 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. July 22 (Interfax) - Russia has recorded 6,659 new cases of Covid-19 in addition to 1,167 hospitalizations and 41 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a bulletin on Friday.

"As of July 22, Russia recorded 6,659 new cases of Covid-19. A total of 1,167 patients were hospitalized in the past 24 hours, down by 2.3% from the previous day," the bulletin said.

The number of hospitalizations increased in 35 Russian regions, decreased in 40, and remained unchanged in ten, it said.

Over the past day, 41 patients died from Covid-19, compared to 42 the day before.

The number of cases went up by 268 from 6,391 cases recorded on Thursday. The daily case count has been over 6,000 for the second day in a row, and it is close to the maximum recorded in late April and early May, when about 7,000 cases were recorded daily.

"As many as 4,687 patients recovered over the past day, up by 3.5% from July 21," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 18,517,779 cases of Covid-19, including 382,080 deaths and 17,929,059 recoveries.
