Ukrainians will be able to receive Pole's Card in Poland
MOSCOW. July 21 (Interfax) - Poland has simplified the procedure for issuing a Pole's Card, which may now be received by Ukrainian citizens in the territory of Poland, the State Border Service of Ukraine said.
"According to the latest update, Ukrainians may apply for a Pole's Card or apply for its extension in the territory of Poland. Previously, citizens of Ukraine had to apply to the Polish Consulate in Ukraine," the Ukrainian media quoted the State Border Service as saying.
The new rules are due to take effect on July 29.
The Pole's Card, or Karta Polaka, serves as proof of Polish nationality for people living outside Poland. The Pole's Card specifies the holder's rights contained in the law passed by the Polish Sejm on September 7, 2007.
Specifically, Pole's Card holders are entitled to a free-of-charge long-term national visa, which allows them to cross the Polish border many times without any additional documents. It also allows its holders to become legally employed in Poland without receiving a work permit, to visit all state museums in Poland free-of-charge, to buy train tickets in Poland at a discount, etc.
