Federation Council first deputy speaker Turchak joins Russian Post board of directors

MOSCOW. July 19 (Interfax) - Andrei Turchak, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, has joined the board of directors of JSC Russian Post, with the corresponding Russian government instruction published on the portal of legal information.

Meantime, Nikolai Zhuravlev, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, was excluded from the Russian Post board of directors. Zhuravlev had served on the company's board since October 2019, when the management body was first formed because of corporatizing Russian Post.

The Russian Post board of directors is elected for five years according to the company's charter.

Russian Post is the federal postal operator with 38,000 branches throughout the country. The company employs around 311,000 employees.

On October 1, 2019, Russian Post transformed into a joint-stock company that is wholly owned by the government.
