Russia sees over 4,500 new Covid-19 cases, 35 related deaths over past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. July 18 (Interfax) - Russia has recorded 4,548 new cases of Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, while nearly 600 people diagnosed with coronavirus have been hospitalized and 35 have died, the coronavirus operative response headquarters said in a statement on Monday.

"As of July 18, Russia has identified 4,548 new cases of Covid-19. The number of daily hospitalizations amounted to 575 people, having decreased by 18.4% compared to the previous day," it said.

The number of related hospitalizations grew in 22, decreased in 40, and remained the same in 23 constituent territories of Russia, it said.

Thirty-five patients with coronavirus have died over the past 24 hours. On Sunday, the headquarters reported 46 related deaths.

Compared to the previous day, when Russia saw 4,664 cases of Covid-19, the number of new infections has slightly decreased. At the same time, daily cases have exceeded 4,000 for the fifth day in a row, a trend seen previously in early June.

"As many as 2,531 people have recovered over the past 24 hours, or 1.9% more than on July 17," it said.

Russia has recorded a total of 18,494,844 cases of Covid-19, 381,916 related deaths, and 17,911,340 recoveries during the period of the pandemic.
