Sandu assures Zelensky that no threat to Ukraine might come from Transdniestria

MOSCOW. July 14 (Interfax) - There is no threat to Ukraine's security from Transdniestria, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said on the Moldova 1 television on Wednesday evening.

"I've assured [Ukrainian] President [Volodymyr] Zelensky that there are no security risks and threats from Transdniestria's side," Sandu said.

"We have information from the region, and we are maintaining contacts with the leaders of the region's administration," Sandu said.

Sandu said bilateral relations, regional security, and food security were discussed during her recent visit to Kyiv.

"We agreed that we would facilitate transit routes for Ukrainian goods, primarily grain products. This was among the key subjects for discussion. We are open, but our capabilities are limited. We do a lot to facilitate the export transit of food and other Ukrainian products," she said.

Moldova will continue to provide help to refugees from Ukraine, she said.

"Some of the refugees have returned to Ukraine, and about 70,000 people are remaining in our country. They're receiving aid, including through UN channels. In particular, we are also taking care of children from Ukraine, who should go to school on September 1," Sandu said.
