Turkmen capital to host World Sambo Championship in 2025

ASHGABAT. July 14 (Interfax) - The World Sambo Championship will be held in Turkmenistan's capital Ashgabat in November 2025, the relevant decree was signed by Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at a government meeting on Wednesday, the government newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan reported on Thursday.

It was stated in the government meeting that the championship was planned to be held in 2020, and the International Sambo Federation did the necessary organizational work. However, the championship was postponed due to the global epidemiological situation associated with the coronavirus pandemic.

At a meeting of the Executive Committee of the International Sambo Federation on April 27, 2022, it was decided to hold the earlier planned World Sambo Championship in Ashgabat in 2025.
