Russian Defense Ministry reports meeting with Myanmar leader, wants to develop military, military-technical cooperation

MOSCOW. July 12 (Interfax) - Russia and Myanmar will deepen their military and military-technical cooperation, the Russian Defense Ministry stated on Tuesday after a meeting between senior officials and Myanmar leader Min Aung Hlaing.

The meeting took place at the ministry on July 11 during Hlaing's private visit to Russia, it said.

"The sides gave a positive assessment of the dynamically developing, mutually beneficial military relations and reaffirmed their aspiration to employ the existing potential with maximum efficiency for deeper military and military-technical cooperation in the spirit of strategic partnership," the statement said.

"The meeting was held in a traditionally friendly atmosphere and confirmed the mutual commitment to gradually increase the wide-ranging cooperation between the defense ministries of the two countries," it said.
