Yandex.Eda faces 100,000-ruble fine in Russia for courier data leak

MOSCOW. July 12 (Interfax) - Yandex's food ordering and delivery platform Yandex.Eda has had a second protocol compiled against it for leaking the personal data of its couriers, for which it could be fined up to 100,000 rubles, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) told Interfax on Tuesday.

"Roskomnadzor has drawn up and sent to court an administrative protocol against Yandex.Eda LLC for having allowed unlawful access to the personal data system, leading to the unlawful spread of the personal data of the web service's couriers," Roskomnadzor said in response to a query from Interfax.

The protocol invokes a Code of Administrative Offenses article that carries a penalty in the form of a maximum fine of 100,000 rubles, it said. "The exact sum of the fine will be determined by the court," Roskomnadzor said.

Yandex.Eda LLC has already been fined 60,000 rubles for a client data leak.
