Ukraine becomes associate member of NATO Multilateral Interoperability Program - DM

MOSCOW. July 12 (Interfax) - Ukraine has become an associate member of the program of technological cooperation of the armed forces of NATO countries, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said.

"Ukraine has become an associate member of the program of technological cooperation of the armed forces of NATO countries [...]. Ukraine has a powerful IT potential and is a worthy NATO ally. I am sure we will bring our expertise to the development of collective security," Reznikov said.

Ukraine has joined in the Multilateral Interoperability Program (MIP), which promotes technological cooperation of the armies of NATO member states, according to the results of voting at an annual session of the MIP Steering Group, Ukrainian media reported citing the Defense Ministry website.

As a MIP associate member, Ukraine gained the right to jointly develop and make changes to the key NATO standards related to the interoperability of command and control systems and other related standards.

Ukraine was informed about becoming a MIP associate member via official diplomatic channels. From now on, the Ukrainian flag will be included in the template of all MIP documents. In their letter, representatives of NATO Headquarters Consultation, Command and Control (C3) Staff note that this event is an example of Ukraine's cooperation with NATO and member states of the Alliance, in particular, within the NATO-Ukraine C4 Knowledge Sharing Project.
