U.S.-based Zoom Video Communications fined 1,000,000 rubles in Russia over failure to localize Russians' personal data - court

MOSCOW. July 12 (Interfax - A magistrate's court at Moscow's Tagansky District Court on Tuesday found the United States' Zoom Video Communications Inc. guilty of an offence in the form of refusing to localize Russians' personal data in Russia, an Interfax correspondent reported from the courtroom.

"[The court has ruled] to find Zoom Video Communications Inc. guilty under Part 8 of Article 13.11 of the Administrative Offences Code of the Russian Federation (the operator's failure to meet the requirement to record, systemize, accumulate and store Russian citizens' personal data, using databases located in Russian territory) and to impose a fine in the amount of one million rubles," the judge said, reading out the ruling in the case.

The company's representatives did not attend and the hearing was held without their participation, the correspondent said.

Zoom Video Communications, Inc. is an American communication technologies company that provides teleconferencing services.
