Wildberries launches automated system to identify counterfeits

MOSCOW. July 11 (Interfax) - Wildberries, Russia's largest online retailer, has launched an automated system based on artificial intelligence to identify counterfeit products.

"Now sellers' advertisements are moderated not only manually, as before, but also automatically," the company said in a press release.

Thanks to the new system, on Friday Wildberries identified and blocked batches of questionable products from a number of vendors.

The deputy director of the Industry and Trade Ministry department for the system for digital marking of goods and legalization of product circulation, Vladislav Zaslavsky said at a roundtable at the State Duma last Thursday that Wildberries is becoming a channel for the sale of counterfeit products and invited the company to have a dialog.

Wildberries said it has always actively fought against counterfeits and knock-offs, and does not tolerate goods of questionable origin." With the start of parallel imports, the company said it has redoubled these efforts.

"Together with the Industry and Trade Ministry, Federal Antimonopoly Service and other agencies, we work against such goods appearing on the Russian market," Wildberries said.
