Putin: Western economic blitzkrieg against Russia failing, though sanctions are damaging, many risks remain

MOSCOW. July 8 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced the failure of the "economic blitzkrieg" against Russia by the West, though has noted that sanctions and restrictions have caused some damage to the country's economy.

"We are now constantly talking about our reaction to these restrictions and sanctions. And I should note that as a result of the actions of the Central Bank of Russia (CBR), as a result of the measures that were taken in a timely manner by the government of the Russian Federation, were supported by the State Duma and the Federation Council, a lot has been done. And the so-called the blitzkrieg that our ill-wishers conceived against Russia, the economic blitzkrieg, of course, failed," Putin said at a meeting with members of the Russian government.

Meantime, Putin noted that, "after all, it causes damage to us; these actions, restrictions, they cause damage to our economy, and many risks still remain."
