UK extends Belarus sanctions banning arms imports, provision of certain services

LONDON. July 5 (Interfax) - The United Kingdom has amended its list of trade restrictions on Belarus by adding a ban on arms and related materiel, iron and steel, and extended bans on potash and mineral products.

A document published by the UK government on Tuesday says it "includes import bans on arms and related materiel, iron and steel."

It also bans the provision of technical assistance, as well as financial and broker services related to metallurgical products and mineral resources.

The document extends a ban "on potash and mineral products."

The amendments were adopted on July 4 and took effect on July 5, 2022.

The document specifies that the ban applies to goods originating from Belarus or shipped from Belarus, which means that the restrictions may apply even to products shipped not directly from Belarusian territory.
