Belarusian govt imposes countersanctions on 190 companies with foreign capital

MINSK. July 5 (Interfax) - The Belarusian government has published a list of 190 Belarusian companies in which foreign investors are subject to countersanctions in Belarus.

"Seeking to protect the interests of the Republic of Belarus, shares are blocked on the depo accounts of their owners consistent with the list, on the basis of the Finance Ministry's order restricting security transactions," the Belarusian government said in a resolution published on the national web portal of legal information on Tuesday.

The document, which has taken effect, prohibits foreign investors in these companies in Belarus from selling their business or withdrawing their assets in any other way.

The restrictions apply to 190 companies with foreign capital, among them Euroopt, Dana Astra, Lukoil Belarus, EPAM Systems, Lidskoye Pivo, Minsk Watch Plant, Mozyrsol, Lidselmash, Mattioli, Remondis Minsk, Henkel Bautechnik, Kommunarka, Spartak, and others.

Companies owned by Belarusians via shares in foreign firms are also included in the list.
