Russian Industry and Trade Ministry doesn't see necessity of fully import substituting software at production facilities

YEKATERINBURG. July 4 (Interfax) - The Russian Industry and Trade Ministry sees no necessity in organizing the full import substitution of digital solutions at production facilities, Industry and Trade Ministry Digital Technologies Department Director Vladimir Dozhdev said at INNOPROM 2022 in Yekaterinburg on Monday.

"We're probably not talking about a full transfer in all key classes. We should always blend the best practices and see, including on open source software, its components that can be used. If we take the overall statistics, then we're currently being guided by numbers of approximately 25%-27% of the Russian software market, again, in monetary terms, is held as such by Russian, domestic solutions. This share has been growing for a number of years," Dozhdev said.

Customers of digital solutions and Russian developers should speed up the process of meeting each other halfway, Dozhdev said. There are plans to create Russian products in all classes of Russian hardware and software solutions by 2025.
