Shmyhal proposes setting up Ukraine reconstruction offices in partner countries with head office in Kyiv

MOSCOW. July 4 (Interfax) - Ukraine has proposed setting up reconstruction offices in some of partner countries, with the head office in Kyiv, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

"A key principle that the Ukrainian president has proposed while considering a future reconstruction plan is a principle of regional responsibility of our partners for Ukrainian regions and cities. There are a number of countries that have chosen reconstruction priorities for themselves. We're urging others to join the process," Ukrainian media have reported with reference to the government press service quoting Shmyhal as saying following a video conference with ambassadors from the Group of Seven countries and Switzerland and heads of a number of international organizations.

Apart from a regional approach toward reconstructing Ukraine, a parametric approach will also be analyzed, he said.

The reconstruction plan's key principles should include security, the rule of law, transparency, just transformation, green reconstruction, digitalization, inclusivity, the absence of barriers, a favorable investment climate, business development, and others, Shmyhal said.

"The reconstruction of Ukraine is a process taking a lot of efforts. Not only financial ones, but also efforts of numerous companies. Therefore, we expect major public-and-private partnership projects. We expect foreign companies to come to Ukraine, create jobs, and pay taxes here. We'll be offering better conditions for companies to stay and continue their work in Ukraine also after reconstruction," Shmyhal said.

"There may be easy loans from partners, international financial organizations, and banks. Grant support and individual contributions could also be a source. The United24 platform has been set up to this end," he said.
