Energoatom re-establishes lost contact between Zaporizhzhya NPP, IAEA

MOSCOW. July 4 (Interfax) - Ukraine's Energoatom state-run nuclear energy company has re-established lost connection between the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Ukrainian media outlets said on Friday citing the company's Telegram channel.

According to Energoatom, IAEA lost remote contact with its safeguards surveillance systems installed at the Zaporizhzhya NPP to monitor nuclear materials because all Ukrainian network operators, including Vodafone, which has a data transmission with IAEA, had been switched off in Enerhodar.

"Despite the fact that all mobile networks of domestic operators are still not working, Energoatom has re-established contact between the NPP and IAEA. All mandatory monitoring data is transmitted, and the agency confirmed that it is receiving it," Energoatom said.

As reported, on June 25, IAEA lost remote contact with its safeguards surveillance systems installed at the Zaporizhzhya NPP.
