FAS gives warning to Google over pushing its payment system on app developers

MOSCOW. July 4 (Interfax) - The Federal Anti-Monopoly Service (FAS) has detected elements of Google's abuse of its dominant position, i.e. a ban on using payment systems of third parties by developers of Google Play paid applications.

"Google LLC, which owns and manages the Google Play app store, has compelled developers distributing paid applications on its platform to use nothing but the Google payment system. The ban on using other payment systems is envisaged by the Google Play rules for developers. If the rule is broken, such an application can be removed from Google Play or a possibility of its updates can be blocked," the FAS said.

The FAS said that Google must comply with the warning within a month or else it may initiate an anti-monopoly violation proceeding.
