Republic of Korea allocates $3 mln for supporting Ukrainian govt - UNDP

MOSCOW. July 1 (Interfax) - The Republic of Korea (ROK) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have announced a new partnership to support the Ukrainian government.

"With this announcement the ROK will underpin emergency livelihoods and community recovery in Ukraine with a flexible contribution of $3 million, which will allow UNDP to adapt its operations to reach those most in need," Ukrainian media quoted the UNDP Ukraine office as saying in a statement on Friday.

Manal Fouani, the UNDP's acting resident representative in Ukraine, "reiterated that the ROK's investment in the humanitarian development nexus action for Ukraine comes at a critical time for continuing to strengthen the Ukrainian government's ability to serve its people while planning for recovery."

The UNDP's tentative forecasts indicate up to 90% of Ukrainians could be facing poverty and vulnerability to poverty by the end of 2022.
