Kyiv asks for allowing Ukrainian citizens, businesses relocated to EU to pay taxes in Ukraine

MOSCOW. July 1 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Social Policy Minister Maryna Lazebna has proposed that the European Parliament allow Ukrainian citizens and businesses relocated to the EU to pay taxes in Ukraine.

"During her visit to Brussels, Ukrainian Social Policy Minister Maryna Lazebna met with Chairman of the European Parliament's Employment and Social Affairs Committee Dragos Pislaru to discuss the possibility of allowing at the level of EU legislation the Ukrainian citizens and businesses relocated to EU countries to retain their tax residency," Ukrainian media outlets said, quoting the ministry press service.

It is proposed that the revenue tax, the individual income tax, and the tax on individual entrepreneurs continue to be paid to the Ukrainian budget consistent with Ukrainian laws whenever such business activities are centered on Ukraine even after they stay in EU countries for over 180 days.

In addition, Lazebna noted the need to preserve social guarantees temporarily provided by EU countries to relocated Ukrainians even if these people temporarily go back to Ukraine to tend to personal business.

"The sides also addressed the future payment of pensions to the Ukrainians with the temporary protection status who worked in the EU countries over the status period. This means the payment of such pensions by both Ukraine and EU countries even in the absence of bilateral social security and pension agreements," Lazebna said.
