Mazhit Sharipov steps down as Kazatomprom CEO

ALMATY. July 1 (Interfax) - Mazhit Sharipov is resigning as CEO of Kazakhstan's national nuclear company Kazatomprom from July 4, 2022, the company said in a press release.

Kazatomprom's Chief Operating Officer, Yerzhan Mukanov, will be appointed as acting CEO while the board of directors completes a recruitment process to assess appropriate candidates for CEO, according to the press release.

Sharipov has been Kazatomprom CEO since September 2021, and has worked for the company since 2015.

Kazatomprom is one of the largest producers of uranium in the world. The company also processes rare metals, produces and sells beryllium and tantalum products.
