Ukraine receives EU cultural heritage awards - Ministry of Culture and Information Policy

MOSCOW. July 1 (Interfax) - Ukraine has received culture heritage awards from the European Union, the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture and Information Policy said.

"The European Commission and Europa Nostra on June 30 announced the 2022 winners of the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards, funded by the EU Creative Europe program. This year, which marks the 20th anniversary of Europe's most prestigious awards in the heritage field, 30 outstanding heritage achievements from 18 European countries have been awarded in five categories," the Ukrainian media said, citing the press service of Ukraine's Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.

St. Andrew's Church in Kyiv is one of the winners in the Conservation and Adaptive Reuse category.

"This comprehensive and well documented restoration has returned a monument with significant cultural and spiritual value to the people of Ukraine," the ministry said.

World Vyshyvanka Day, Ukraine, is among the winners of the Citizens' Engagement and Awareness-raising award.

The European Union's European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards were founded by the European Commission in 2002, demonstrating Europe's best achievements in the field of culture conservation and cultural heritage awareness-raising.

The awards' nominations are culture conservation, scientific research, special cultural heritage conservation events, education, training, and awareness-raising.
