Ukraine's participation in G20 summit to depend in security situation, composition of event participants - Zelensky

MOSCOW. June 30 (Interfax) - Ukraine's participation in the G20 summit, to be hosted by Indonesia, will depend on the security situation inside Ukraine and the composition of the summit's participants, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

Assistance from Indonesia as the G20 summit host and a participant in this event is crucial to restoring peace, the Ukrainian media quoted Zelensky as saying.

"I am grateful to you, Mr. President, for the invitation to personally attend the summit. Naturally, I accept this invitation. Ukraine's participation in it will depend on the security situation in Ukraine and the composition of the summit's participants," Zelensky said at a press briefing with Indonesian President Joko Widodo in Kyiv on Wednesday.

Zelensky described his talks with Widodo as "a step toward strengthening the global coalition of states which can guarantee stability in the world."

He also called the Indonesian president's visit to Ukraine historic.

"This is the first visit by Indonesia's president to Ukraine [throughout the history] of our relations. Indeed, we are very grateful to you for that," Zelensky said.
