Belarus extends Western food embargo through 2022

MINSK. June 29 (Interfax) - The Belarusian government has extended the six-month embargo on food imports from unfriendly states, announced at the beginning of this year, through December 31, 2022.

Under the resolution published on the national web portal of legal information, the embargo takes effect on June 30, 2022.

The document slightly relaxes the countersanctions. For instance, starting on June 30, Belarusian importers will be allowed to buy apricots, cherries, sweet cherries, nectarines, plums and persimmons from unfriendly countries.

Belarus imposed an embargo on a broad range of Western foods on January 1, 2022. There are 18 types of products on the list attached to the resolution, among them beef, pork, milk, dairy products except for lactose-free milk, fruit, nuts, sausage, confectionary products, and vegetables.
