Petrol deliveries to Ukraine diversified, overcoming shortages will take time - chairman of Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada's Energy Committee

MOSCOW. June 28 (Interfax) - Ukraine is continuing to work to overcome car petrol shortages in the country, Chairman of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada's Energy Committee Andriy Herus said, adding that petrol deliveries from Europe have been diversified.

"Ukraine-bound deliveries that exist today keep growing at a rate that is already higher than a 50% rise that we saw in May. Furthermore, they have been seriously diversified, i.e. we are not receiving more than a third [of all deliveries] from one country," Herus said at a press conference on Tuesday.

According to Ukrainian media reports, Herus confirmed the forecast earlier unveiled by the Economy Ministry that in June 2022 Ukraine will increase petrol imports by 1.6-fold to 600,000 tonnes in June month-on-month. Diesel fuel will account for two-thirds, and gasoline and liquefied gas for one-third of this amount.

It may take another month or a month and a half to fully normalize the situation on the country's petrol market, he said.
