Russia expelling eight Greek diplomats
MOSCOW. June 27 (Interfax) - Russia on Monday lodged a resolute protest with the Greek ambassador in Moscow over the Greek authorities' decision to supply weapons to Kyiv, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"On June 27, Ambassador of the Greek Republic to the Russian Federation Ekaterini Nassika was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry, which lodged a resolute protest over the Greek authorities' confrontational policy toward Russia, including deliveries of weapons and military hardware to the Kyiv regime and the declaration of a group of Russian diplomats in Greece as personae non gratae," the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website.
"The ambassador was notified that eight Greek diplomats in Russia have been declared personae non gratae as a response measure and they must leave the territory of the country within eight days," the ministry said.
The Greek ambassador was also "informed of other steps being taken by the Russian side in relation to the functioning of Greece's diplomatic missions in Russia," it said.
"It was emphasized that it is about the direct consequences of the unfriendly steps initiated by the Greek authorities. Full responsibility for it rests entirely with Athens. It was also noted that if this anti-Russian policy continues, we reserve the right to respond," the ministry said.
