BRICS countries committed to cooperation in agricultural sector to ensure food security - declaration

MOSCOW. June 23 (Interfax) - The leaders of the BRICS countries have emphasized their commitment to cooperation in the agricultural sector to ensure global food security.

"As BRICS countries produce around 1/3 of the world's food, we stress our commitment to furthering agricultural cooperation and driving sustainable agricultural and rural development of BRICS countries aimed at safeguarding food security of BRICS countries and the world," the Beijing Declaration adopted by the participants in the 14th BRICS summit says.

The text of the declaration is published on the Kremlin website.

The BRICS leaders mentioned the strategic importance of agriculture inputs, including fertilizers, for promoting global food security.

"We reiterate the importance of implementing the Action Plan 2021-2024 for Agricultural Cooperation of BRICS Countries, and welcome the Strategy on Food Security Cooperation of the BRICS Countries," the document says.
