Int'l hub established in Uzbekistan to render humanitarian aid to Afghanistan

TASHKENT. June 23 (Interfax) - An international transport and logistics hub has been established in Uzbekistan to render humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and other countries.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a resolution to support the establishment of the Termez Cargo Center international multifunctional transport and logistics hub in Termez near the Uzbek-Afghan border to render humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and other countries. The document was published in the database of Uzbek laws on Thursday.

"To grant the application of LLC Termez Cargo Center for the status of an international multifunctional transport and logistics hub rendering humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and other countries," the resolution said.

The hub will provide centralized, targeted delivery of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and other countries by the United Nations, other international organizations, and foreign countries on a systemic basis.

As reported earlier, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees has shipped 1,000 tonnes of aid to Afghanistan via the Cargo Center with the active support from the Uzbek government.
