Elections of regional heads to be held in all Russian constituent territories where planned - CEC

MOSCOW. June 22 (Interfax) - All 14 regions that are due to elect their heads in September will do so on Unified Voting Day, Russian Central Elections Commission (CEC) head Ella Pamfilova said.

"As for the elections of high-ranking officials: [the elections] have been scheduled in all 14 Russian constituent territories as planned. Forty candidates have been nominated, including 37 by regional branches of 13 political parties, in addition to three self-nominees," Pamfilova said at a CEC meeting on Wednesday.

The largest number of candidates (12) was nominated in Karelia, Pamfilova said, adding that the nomination is continuing in all 14 constituent territories where elections are planned.

Fifteen heads of regions are due to be elected in September 2022, including 14 in direct elections and one by the State Council in the Republic of Adygea.
