Ukraine to boost agricultural exports to UK following suspension of import duties - ministry

MOSCOW. June 20 (Interfax) - The ratification by Ukraine and the United Kingdom of an agreement to mutually suspend import duties and tariff quotas for one year will help increase exports of Ukrainian agricultural products to the UK, the Ukrainian media quoted Ukraine's Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food as saying on its website on Monday.

Ukrainian agricultural exports to the UK are, above all, flour, dairy products, poultry and semi-finished poultry products, tomato paste, juices, sugar, etc., the ministry said.

The opening of new markets to Ukrainian exports will contribute to the development of production in Ukraine, including the manufacturing of goods with high added value, a move that will help Ukraine increase its foreign currency proceeds, it said.

As reported, the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada on June 19 ratified the agreement on suspending for at least the next 12 months import duties and tariff quotes in bilateral trade between Ukraine and the UK.
