Parallel imports to Russia since start of May total $2 bln, mainly auto parts and consumer goods - Manturov

ST. PETERSBURG. June 17 (Interfax) - Parallel imports to Russia have totaled around $2 billion since the beginning of the arrangement on May 6, comprising mainly spare parts for cars and consumer goods, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov told reporters on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2022.

"The approved regulation has been in effect for just over a month, and during this period, according to customs information, about $2 billion of imported goods have passed through under about 130 headings brought into our country," he said, when asked about the scale of parallel imports into the country.

"This is mostly automobile spare parts, consumer goods that products that go to shops, including critical imports - these are components, spare parts, materials that our foreign colleagues have refused to supply directly," he said.
