Russian animation studio Soyuzmultfilm plans to enter Southeast Asia, Latin America markets

MOSCOW. June 15 (Interfax) - The Soyuzmultfilm animation studio plans to bring its animated cartoons to a number of new markets soon, Yuliana Slashcheva, who chairs the board of the Animated Films Association and the Soyuzmultfilm board, said on the Rossiya-24 (VGTRK) television channel.

"We will have to adapt more there [on the new markets] than we were going to, but these are the markets of Southeast Asia, the markets of the Middle East, North Africa and of Latin American that are waiting for us," Slashcheva said.

"We need to tap into new markets. These are the markets to which we did not pay much attention earlier because we were focused on Western markets - on Europe and English-speaking countries," she said.

Bringing animated cartoons to new markets requires a more serious approach, as well as adapting a number of films, where the content of dialogues, the context of episodes will have to be changed, localization will have to be adapted, etc., she said.

"We thought that we would now tap into simpler markets, while the markets of Southeast Asia were in our plans for 2023 and 2024. But we need to adjust and to enter these markets now," Slashcheva said.

Slashcheva said that she has already held a number of meetings with representatives from countries of these regions.
