No foreign suppliers of medications have quit Russian market - Health Ministry

ST. PETERSBURG. June 15 (Interfax) - No foreign producers or suppliers of medications have left the Russian pharmaceutical market, Russian Deputy Health Minister Sergei Glagolev said.

"None of them [foreign pharmaceutical companies] have left. The process of recalling registration certificates take places at any other time as well. It is a routine issue," Glagolev said at the Drug Security Forum as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Russian First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vasily Osmakov, in turn, has confirmed that no foreign companies have quit the Russian pharmaceutical market.

According to Glagolev, following the coronavirus pandemic, Russian producers have a considerable stockpile of certain consumables, including pharmaceutical ingredients and auxiliary materials.

"Logistic routes for deliveries [of medications] are now being actively explored and looked for. Key suppliers of consumables, if we speak about synthetic medications at the very least, have not imposed any unfriendly measures on Russia. This safety margin will allow us to take preemptive steps in the future," he said.
