Vitali Klitschko to receive Arthur Ashe Courage Award on July 20

MOSCOW. June 15 (Interfax) - Vitali Klitschko, Kyiv mayor and former world heavyweight boxing champion, will be honored with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award on July 20, the Ukrainian media said, citing the Boxing Scene media outlet.

The award is given by the ESPN television channel to a deserving member of the sporting world whose activities reach far beyond the field of play, impacting the world in indelible ways.

"It is our privilege to bestow him with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award," ESPN Content executive editor-at-large Rob King said.

Klitschko, in turn said, that "it is a great honor for me to receive this award."

The Arthur Ashe Award is one of the most prestigious and renowned awards in the sporting world. Other Ashe Award honorees include fellow former heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali and boxing broadcaster Howard Cosell.
