Ukraine, U.S. sign memorandum of cooperation in agrarian sector - Ukrainian Agrarian Policy Ministry

MOSCOW. June 14 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry and the United States Department of Agriculture have signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the agricultural sector.

Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Mykola Solsky and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Thomas Vilsack signed the document during a videoconference on June 13, which would enable the two countries to build strong strategic partnership in the agrarian and food sectors in addressing food security issues, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the Ukrainian ministry on Tuesday.

"To implement these goals, the parties agreed to cooperate and exchange information on crop farming and animal husbandry, including agricultural statistics, share data on climatic conditions for enhancing production, and inform each other of food security needs and provide support amid the limited resources and irregularities in supply chains," it said.

The memorandum also envisions the resumption in Ukraine of The Cochran Fellowship Program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The document should also improve communications in bilateral trade between Ukraine and the U.S.
