Canada bans provision of some services in Russian oil, gas, chemical industries - document

LONDON. June 8 (Interfax) - The Canadian authorities on Wednesday imposed a ban on the provision of some services to the Russian oil, gas and chemical industries, Global Affairs Canada said in a statement.

"These new measures impose a ban on the export of 28 services vital for the operation of the oil, gas and chemical industries, including technical, management, accounting and advertising services," the document said.

These three industries account for about 50% of Russia's federal budget revenues, it said.

"These measures will reduce Russia's ability" to conduct the special operation in Ukraine, Global Affairs Canada said.

Canada will continue to work with its partners in the international community to coordinate further measures against Russia, the document said.

Canada has imposed sanctions on more than 1,070 individuals and entities from and in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus since the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, the statement said. Canadian sanctions measures have affected more than 1,500 individuals and entities since the joining of Crimea to Russia.
