Ruble now used in over two-thirds of transactions between Russia and other EAEU states - Russian Security Council

MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - Russia is switching to mutual transactions in rubles between countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Russian Security Council Deputy Secretary Rashid Nurgaliyev said.

"Mutual transactions to pay for commodities and services between the EAEU countries are switching to rubles. The volume of such operations already exceeds two-thirds of their overall number," Nurgaliyev said in an interview with the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper.

"The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission has taken a range of measures to enhance the sustainability of the EAEU states' economies, the measures which, in actual fact, are an action program to tackle urgent tasks and to take steps for the long run," he said.

Changes "in the political and economic situation in the world have not affected the functioning of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the EAEU," Nurgaliyev said.
