Ukraine's Servant of the People becomes full-fledged member of ALDE
MOSCOW. June 3 (Interfax) - The Servant of the People political force, which was established by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and supports him, has been granted full-fledged membership in the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE).
"We are convinced that our party's accession to the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats will be a landmark event both for Ukrainian and European politics. The Servant of the People will make ALDE stronger, just as Ukraine will make the European Union stronger," Servant of the People party leader Olena Shulyak was quoted as saying by Ukrainian media outlets, which cited the party's press service.
Entry into ALDE will make it possible to share experience with European parties and to pursue reforms, including in the fields of digitalization and security, the press service said.
ALDE incorporates liberal and liberal democratic parties mostly from EU countries. At the national level, ALDE member parties are represented in the governments of 12 out of the EU's 27 member countries.
