Russia's Digital Development Ministry sees no prospects for Asian software on domestic market

NIZHNY NOVGOROD. June 2 (Interfax) - Russia's Digital Development Ministry sees no prospects for software from Southeast Asian countries on the domestic market, the ministry's press service told Interfax on Thursday.

The ministry believes that Asian products would not be in demand because of the high quality of domestic solutions, Russian companies lacking experience in using such software, as well as the complexity involved in localizing the solutions.

"Moreover, there is a strict priority in Russia to use domestic software, and restrictions have been introduced on purchasing foreign software, even from friendly countries," the ministry stressed.

The ministry also notes that the Southeast Asian market is a priority for exporting Russian software applications and solutions, along with the markets of the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa.
