Zelensky's official does not rule out resumption of talks with Russia

MOSCOW. June 1 (Interfax) - Ukraine and Russia might resume negotiations on the Istanbul communique provisions, Mykhailo Podolyak, advisor to the Ukrainian presidential office chief and a member of the Ukrainian delegation in negotiations with Russia, said on Wednesday.

"Any negotiating process can be continued. This is up to our military-political leaders to decide. When they decide that we could revisit the Istanbul communique concept, they'll say: sit down, discuss, and propose amendments, taking into account the situational circumstances," Podolyak told Ukrainian journalists in Kyiv.

The parties developed certain framework decisions at the meeting in Istanbul on March 29, Podolyak said. "Irrelevant matters were put aside [...] The Istanbul communique stipulated a treaty on security guarantees for Ukraine, which envisioned the possibility of signing a multilateral treaty with guarantor countries," he said.
