BP planning to drill exploratory will at Shah-Deniz field in 2022

BAKU. June 1 (Interfax) - BP plc plans to conduct exploration drilling in the Shah Deniz field in 2022, Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, the company's VP for communications and external relations for the Caspian and Middle East region, told reporters Wednesday.

"Calculations and technical assessments of the work to determine the location of the upcoming exploration drilling are underway," Aslanbayli said.

As reported, Shah Deniz currently has a production capacity of approximately 72 million cubic meters per day, or more than 26 billion cubic meters per year. In Q1 2022, the company produced 6 billion cubic meters of gas (up 17.6% from the same period in 2021) and approximately 9 million barrels of condensate (up 15.4%) from the field.

Production at the site in 2021 was 23 billion cubic meters of gas, an increase of 27.1% over 2020.
