Net passenger flow into Ukraine via western border on for straight 22 days, reaches 158,000

MOSCOW. June 1 (Interfax) - The number of passengers arriving in Ukraine through its western border has been larger than the number of leaving persons for the straight 22 days since May 9, with the net passenger flow into Ukraine reaching 158,000 over this period, the Ukrainian media said, citing the State Border Service of Ukraine said.

More than 32,000 people left Ukraine on May 31, the same number as on the previous day, and 41,000 people entered Ukraine on May 31 as compared to nearly 39,000 the day before, the State Border Service said.

"The number of people returning to Ukraine has been larger than the number of leaving persons for three weeks in a row already," it said.

Meanwhile, the number of humanitarian trucks cleared by customs increased to 161 from 148 the day before, it said.

Data released by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees as of 1 p.m. on May 29 shows that 6.802 million people departed from Ukraine since February 24. These include 3.627 million who left for Poland, 1.029 million who left for Moldova and Romania, 971,420 who left for Russia (as of May 26), 682,590 who left for Hungary, 461,160 who left for Slovakia, and 30,090 who left for Belarus.

A total of 2.230 million people arrived in Ukraine between February 28 and May 27, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine said.
