Int'l partners' financial support for Ukraine tops $7 bln - PM Shmyhal

MOSCOW. June 1 (Interfax) - The financial support extended by international partners to Ukraine over the past three months has exceeded $7 billion, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

"We are grateful to our international partners who have provided us with financial support to enable the state to fully honor all of its social and humanitarian commitments," Shmyhal said at a government meeting on Tuesday.

Ukrainian media outlets cited Shmyhal, who estimated the amount of support extended by international partners over more than three months at over $7 billion.

"Every day, we negotiate to increase this aid," he said.

The Ukrainian government has also approved terms for drawing approximately $800 million in financial assistance from the Canadian government said.

Canada has previously extended support worth almost $400 million, and Ukraine is grateful for it, Shmyhal said.

The Ukrainian government has also approved a draft agreement with the EU on extending 330 million euros to Ukraine, he said.

Furthermore, Ukraine expects to join the common customs space with the EU within a month, the prime minister said.

"We are grateful for Slovakia's much-needed military assistance and for its humanitarian assistance, which convers almost all areas," Shmyhal said.

"We have an ambitious goal to join the NCTS - the Common Customs Area - within a month. We are ready for all challenges," the government's press service quoted Shmyhal as saying after a meeting with Slovak President Zuzana Caputova in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Caputova, in turn, said that Slovakia has a recent experience of EU integration, adding that her country will support Ukraine on this path.
