Kyiv launches Embrace Ukraine campaign in support for its EU candidate status

MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - Kyiv is launching the Embrace Ukraine Strengthen the Union communication campaign to secure support for its European integration, including the EU candidate status, according to Uryadovy Portal.

Uryadovy Portal noted that Ukraine already enjoyed unprecedented support from EU citizens. A majority of them (66%) say that "Ukraine should join the EU when it is ready," and 71% describe Ukraine as a member of the European family.

"It is important that the EU heads of state hear the voice of people and make the decision necessary to formalize Ukraine's candidate status," the Ukrainian government said.

Ukraine officially applied for accession to the EU on February 28 and complied with every procedure necessary, the government said.
